Michigan Winters, the Spring Thaw, and Your Debris in Mt Pleasant

Winter runs the calendar in mid-Michigan, and it shapes the cleanup work more than any other season. The snow load, the ice, the wind and the muddy thaw that follows all leave debris behind - and clearing it legally means a container, not a burn pile.

A season of hard weather

Shingles are dense, so they size a container by weight, not volume - a 20 yard at its tonnage allowance can look half empty. And Michigan's EGLE prohibits burning the old shingles, so they go covered to a licensed C&D landfill.

The spring thaw wave

When the thaw finally comes, everything that winter loosened comes down at once: limbs, storm-damaged fencing, water-damaged basement and shed contents, and the projects people put off until the ground dried. It's the busiest cleanup window of the year, and a roll-off clears a season's worth in one pass rather than trip after trip.
