Two things we do differently
The local rules are why you need a container. In Mt Pleasant, the Isabella County Recycling Center takes household recyclables, brush, tires and oil - but not the construction debris from a remodel or a clean-out, which has to go to a licensed construction-and-demolition landfill. The City's own guidance says it plainly: for a large clean-out or remodel, contract a licensed hauler for a dumpster. And under Michigan's EGLE rules you can't burn construction, demolition or commercial waste. So a real project's debris goes covered to a C&D landfill - the City points large loads to Northern Oaks up in Harrison - and as a local crew we know the routing and point the Freon appliances, tires and brush the right way.
Michigan and Isabella County route several things carefully. Clean scrap metal and clean concrete can be recycled rather than landfilled; brush, tires and oil go to the Isabella County Recycling Center; the Isabella Conservation District runs household hazardous waste and e-waste collection; and pressure-treated lumber can't be burned at all, so it goes in the container.
